1969 Chevrolet Camaro - Auction - Carlisle, PA -

One of finest examples in the country, this is an original Hugger Orange early-production, California-built Camaro, born a Z/28. Originally titled in Nevada, This car was bought in 2006 in Arizona. It underwent a full rotisserie restoration, completed in 2013. This car retains its original body panels: Floor, trunk pan, quarters, doors, fenders, hood, bumpers, rocker panels, frame rails and sub-frame. The exterior is finished in Dupont Base Coat/Clear Coat. The undercarriage is a combination of powder coat and Dupont products, as needed, to duplicate or exceed the original look and finish. This car shows fantastic fit and finish, with flawless body lines.

The drivetrain was missing when the car was purchased. Therefore, the owner opted to build this Z/28 to ZL1 Specs., starting with a standard-bore GM 427 aluminum engine--12 to 1 compression ratio. The 115cc open-chamber 074 heads are dated 12.4.68 and 12.18.68. It has a solid-lift flat tappet cam; 850 CFM Holley carburetor, without a choke; complete with a smog system and a chambered exhaust system.

The engine assembly was professionally built, balanced, and blueprinted by Pete Teasdale of Teasdale Automotive, Jonestown, PA.  Dyno-Tuned by Baker Outlaw Fuel Systems, this engine produces well over 500hp on 93 octane pump gas. The power is connected to the rear wheels through a Centerforce dual-friction clutch, through the M22 Rock Crusher Transmission, to the 12-Bolt 4.10 posi-traction rear axle.

The engine is cooled by an original 4-core curved-neck radiator, with the correct fan blade and fan clutch.

Suspension was finished off with factory-replacement spiral shocks, power disc brakes, 5 correct Goodyear tires, poverty caps, and painted wheels.

The completely restored interior includes new seat covers, headliner, door panels, a restored AM radio—it’s all there.

The detail and finish of this car cannot be conveyed in photos. It’s a must-see, with over 1500 hours in the restoration.

The car has been driven less than 75 miles since completion. This beauty runs and drives as good as it looks!
