This 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner has a bunch of new parts and is a great driver.
Exterior
This 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner looks to have taken care of and presents well. The blue and white two tone paint has a nice shine to it. There is some overspray on some of the trim and badges. The trim on the vehicle is complete but there are some areas that have some small dents and the front left fender trim does have a small hole towards the door (pictured). There are a couple of spots on the driver's side where there looks to be a couple of rust bubbles forming on the lower corners just in front of the rear wheel and behind as well. The glass is complete and in good shape and there aren't any cracks. The front bumper has a good shine to it but it is dented on the lower middle section. The rear of the vehicle is outfitted with the continental kit and the rear bumper is in nice shape. The Coker Classic tires have 11/32nds of tread left on them and are in great shape and their date codes are 3107. The original hubcaps are in great shape.
Interior
The interior is in good shape. The vinyl covered seats are clean and comfortable but there is one rip in a seam on the driver's side. The headliner is clean and complete but does have a small rip in the left rear section. The door panels are complete and in good shape. The carpet does have a bit of fading around the edges but is in overall nice condition because rubber floor mats have been used in the vehicle. The dashboard is complete and all of the knobs are present. The steering wheel is complete and the horn ring is in good shape but there is some paint wear but there are not any cracks.
Mechanical
This 1958 Ford Skyliner has less than 500 miles on the rebuilt running gear and suspension components and with all the work being done November of 2007 to March of 2008 and receipts for this work. An early style 390 cu. in. block was completely rebuilt including electronic ignition components and a Holley 4 barrel carburetor. The exhaust system was completely replaced and new hangers were installed. The radiator and heater core were recored. The fuel system was gone through including a reconditioned fuel tank and a new fuel pump and lines. The transmission housing was replaced due to a crack and the transmission was completely rebuilt. The original rear axle was removed cleaned and rebuilt and then mounted to a new set of leaf springs. The brakes were completely gone through including new master cylinder, wheels cylinders and new brake hoses. The front suspension has all new bushings, tie rods, drag links, shocks and springs. The front wheel bearings and seals were also replaced. The power steering assembly was rebuilt and new hoses were installed. The Ford runs and drives great.
When this vehicle came in the top went up and down twice for me but when I took the vehicle out to take pictures the screw in the left rear corner would not operate. It appears that it is either the solenoid or the motor in that corner. The trunk portion will still go up and down but the roof will not raise and go into the trunk. The fuel gauge in the dash does not appear to be operational and the temperature light in the dash comes on intermittently but the vehicle is not getting hot. The temp gauge is working. The lights and signals work but the brights do not work. The wipers will go up but will only go down when the switch is turned off.
