1971 Dodge Challenger - $67,500 - Warrensburg, MO -

1971 DODGE CHALLENGER R/T  (One of One!)

                                                               It snarls… it growls… it shakes…
Before you today is this immaculate and ultra-rare Bright Red (FE5) 1971 Dodge Challenger R/T with its Original Numbers Matching (“N” Code) 383 “Magnum” engine w/optional Shaker  Hood (Fresh-Air scoop) and Original Numbers Matching rare 3 speed manual transmission! This uniquely rare, and desirable muscle car is fully documented for authenticity by MOPAR expert Galen Govier. Additional supporting documents include, the original Chrysler Corporation Broadcast Sheet, and a binder full of historical service records, restoration receipts and ownership history. This car is very original in many ways from the proper clips securing hoses, brakes and fuel lines down to the original rubber gasket lining the trunk which still proudly displays the Chrysler part numbers. Frankly, one would be hard pressed to find another ’71 Challenger R/T this rare, this original, and this nice!
Looking back, in ’71, one could walk into the local Dodge dealership and order a “First-Generation” performance model Dodge Challenger R/T built for luxury or built to race; hence the “Road/Track (R/T) callouts.
This specific Dodge Challenger R/T was built at Hamtramck, Michigan, Dec 15, 1970 for “Export.” (Note ALL Challenger R/T’s were built at Hamtramck, “Export” was a term used for sales made to U.S. military personnel such as in this case). This is not only an “early car” but is also very rare with the 383 Magnum engine and “Shaker Hood” (N96) and 3 speed manual transmission (D13) combination ordered for Export. As of July 2006, (the last time the car was offered for sale to the current owner) this car was verified to be #5 of 8 in sequence of all 1971 -383-4bbl Dodge Challenger R/T -2 Door Hardtop’s registered that were ordered for Export. It is #1 of 2 -Export Ordered JS23N with N96 (Shaker Hood) and only 1 of 1 –JS23N with N96 and D13-3 Speed Manual transmission!
Historically, the car spent most of its time in California and Oregon. In 2005, the car transferred ownership from Oregon to New York where the car is located currently. The car has been meticulously maintained, has never been wrecked, raced or seen rust. Entire car is true to form with original body panels and glass and everything works! With all of its factory originality and special care this car has received over the years, the harder one looks the better this car gets! Bottom line, if you enjoy owning and driving “pure” muscle cars this is the one as you will spend more time behind the wheel then under the hood of this ultra-rare ’71 Dodge Challenger!
