1924 Harley-Davidson - Auction - Newnan, GA -

Historic early Harley model with the V-twin F-head engine.  Also known as The Sixty-One for it's 61 cu. in. displacement in the engine.  Despite the military appearance of the Olive paint, this was the factory background color for civilian motorcycles.  It is however missing the colorful pin-stripping in burgundy, gold and black.  1924 is a very desirable year for collectible Harley Davidsons because it is the beginning of F-head two cam configuration, an iron piston engine which proved unbeatable in durability and long races.  Yet, design wise, it was the last year for Harley's old style gas tank and frame, giving it that true antique motorcycle look. It was in the next model year that the streamlined, more rounded gas tanks and frames became the Harley look for the modern motorcycle era.

The engine on this bike bears the identification: 24FE3567.  Gated three speed shift lever of left, headlight complete, rear luggage rack, updated tires. A very clean, complete and highly sought after Harley Davidson.
