The Thunderbird was redesigned for 1961 with sleeker styling that gave the car a distinctively bullet-like appearance. Thunderbird was immediately well received and was 1961's Indianapolis 500 pace car as well as featured prominently in US President John F. Kennedy's inaugural parade.
Finished in red paintwork over red vinyl upholstery, this iconic American convertible was recently pulled from its 17-year slumber and is now ready for a full restoration or just a simple driver’s preservation.
This particular Thunderbird was purchased in 1989 in Arlington, Virginia by the previous caretaker and was proudly showed for six years, until 1995, when it was permanently stored in a suburban garage in the heart of Washington D.C.
Although not an original Sports Roadster, this T-Bird tributes a roadster very well with its authentic wire wheels and removable fiberglass tonneau cover - additional luxuries include power everything, a Custom Autosounds headunit, plexi wind deflectors, GE spotlamp and removable wheels spats. The T-Bird’s original owner’s manual and binder of records from the early 1980’s-present accompany the vehicle.
