1957 MGA Roadster
Chassis No. HDR43/34361
Engine No. 16GA/U/5053
The 1955 introduction of the sleek, envelope-bodied MGA Roadster certainly shocked some purists, but marquee enthusiasts received an exciting preview. Prior to its official launch at Frankfurt, three aluminum-bodied prototypes were entered at Le Mans. As a result, the MGA was launched with a solid competition pedigree, ensuring its acceptance in the market and the United States in particular, where the bulk of production was destined.
Several years ago the previous owner of this MGA had a professional frame-off restoration conducted and this beautiful car has remained well maintained ever since. During the restoration, the Roadster was fitted with a more powerful and additionally desirable 1600cc motor. The Roadster continues to present itself in nice condition cosmetically and mechanically - easily displayed and driven with great pride. It is handsomely finished in correct one-stage white paintwork with a black convertible top, red leather interior, and painted wire wheels. Matching side curtains with storage pouch, full tonneau cover, seat belts and spare tire complete the MG.
The MGA was an elemental part of postwar sports car history and continues to be a very attractive and relatively affordable, yet tremendously enjoyable, British roadster.
