![1970 Chevrolet Corvette]()
1970 Chevrolet Corvette - $33,995 - Atlanta, GA - If you're looking to make a vintage Corvette your daily driver we might humbly suggest this wickedly potent yet remarkably civilized 1970 Sting Ray. With its numbers-matching LS5 big block it'll slice and dice rush-hour traffic but the A/C powerful stereo and automatic transmission make it a pleasure under any circumstances. OK so a Monza Red Corvette isn't subtle but if you're going to own a 'Vette you may as well go all-out. The paint job is really quite good thanks to a bare-fiberglass respray that covered every square inch with the brilliant red urethane. The late start of production in 1970 helped improve quality in a number of ways and the cars are easy to spot with their new eggcrate grilles rectangular parking lamps and revised "gills" on the front fenders. On this car the details are well-executed the doors fit snugly and the chrome bumpers are flush with the bodywork in a way the factory never quite managed to perfect. Sure it shows some signs of use but if this was your car can you honestly say you wouldn't take it out for a spin every chance you got? Today it's just right for a car you want to use-you won't sweat the little stuff and if it's a daily driver you want not sweating the little stuff is critical. Inside the seats were more deeply bolstered in 1970 to improve lateral support and it remains a first-class place to do business. Much of the interior is new thanks to a color change from brown to black so you know that the door panels seat covers carpets and even the dash pad are all new. The gauges look great for being 42 years old and it's still one of the best-looking cockpits today. A newer AM/FM stereo in the dash is augmented by a 6-disc CD changer that's in the trunk behind the driver. You'll also note the automatic shifter shows an overdrive gear which is no accident since there's a 700R4 4-speed automatic underneath which truly makes this big block a car you can drive every day. Glass T-tops are an unusual feature on a 1970 and they give the black interior a bright look. You won't lack for horsepower that's for sure. The original numbers-matching LS5 454 cubic inch V8 was rebuilt less than 5000 miles ago and runs as strong as ever. Rated at 390 horsepower the LS5's real claim to fame was torque: more than 500 pounds of it! The engine bay has been beautifully restored with racy finned valve covers Chevy Orange paint Hooker headers and an MSD ignition system. A serpentine belt drive system not only looks great but provides improved reliability and the opportunity to install a modern A/C compressor with R134a refrigerant. As I mentioned there's a 700R4 overdrive transmission which feeds the stock rear end. The chambered exhaust sounds amazing while 225/70/15 Goodyears deliver great handling and a civilized ride. This is A LOT of Corvette for not a lot of money. Documented with the original build sheet plus full restoration photos and receipts you can buy and drive with confidence. Call today!
