1957 Bernardi - Auction - Newnan, GA - A great example of a popular mid century mode of transportation from the tulip fields of Holland. The Berini Company was founded in 1949 in The Hague. They intentionally came up with an Italian sounding name thinking an Italian cycle would be easier to market. It was actually formed from the first names of the three founders. The first engine was built from blueprints smuggled out of Germany and mounted over the front wheel. As popularity increased, the factory was moved to Rotterdam and it developed into the moped design with center mounted engine we have here. This is an unrestored example, gas tank and luggage rack primered. Engine 793 complete with Encarwi A2 carburetor. Headlight, de Luxe fenders, chain guard, saddle and handlebars have mild surface rust but all in good restorable condition.
