1972 Mercedes-Benz 350SL 1972 Mercedes-Benz 350SL
This is a very original survivor or preservation class type car which has had a comprehensive major servicing and freshening in our restoration facility. The work to bring her to the level you see in the photos and to give as absolutely as pleasurable an ownership experience as the factory intended back in the day took 249 hours. A full restoration can take between 2000 and 3000 hours so you can see how fantastic this car was even before we started.
This is a first year car for this platform (R107) and is a low mileage one family car. It is also a rather low production number having been built actually at the end of 1971. An interesting note that few people realize is that ALL U.S. destined 350's actually have a 4.5 liter V8 just like the 1973 450's! The home market (Europe/Germany) 350SL cars actually had a 3.5 liter engine (hence the typical Mercedes naming practice with the number referring to the engine displacement). They wanted consistency for the model's introduction so left the model as "350SL" for both markets. Incidentally if you compare a '72 350SL with a '73 450SL you will find subtle differences. This of course makes these first year cars rather special.
This car still retains nearly all original paint, interior upholstery, dash, carpet and even the original soft top!
