1958 MG A - $35,000 - Stratford, CT -
A nice, clean, rust free A which just arrived, found by an agent of our's in Arizona. Recently rebuilt 1.8 liter MGB engine (160-170 psi compression in every cylinder, 60 psi oil pressure, no smoke), 4 speed all synchromesh trans, fabulously clean underneath, fairly new interior (not perfect but quite nice...tan carpets, seats, green piping), new chrome bumpers, guards and grille, new top and cloth tonneau, front end and brakes rebuilt, runs and drives very well (not suprisingly with 90+ hp), wire wheels, AND just repainted in its original green. Paint came out great...show quality. Just gorgeous.
When the car first rolled into our workshop, the body surived the 'visual inspection' and 'tapping with my fingers' and even the 'kitchen magnet' test and appeared to be not only rust free but bondo free. Maybe about the best body I have ever encountered on an MGA. Straight, rust and bondo free. And after a lot of careful preparation, expensive show quality BRG paintwork. One of the nicest MGAs we had seen in a long time.
No better match then a green MGA with tan interior, wire wheels, MGB engine and.....a wonderful starting point in a rust free Arizona car. Just finished, tested, and in our showroom.
Oh, and another note...hard to imagine a better compromise than a nice, rust free, excellent looking and running MGA. Capable of 100+ mph, smooth, powerful, superb ride and steering, wonderful handling, beautiful lines, and very classic from its wire wheels, slightly cut down door tops, to banjo style steering wheel. The perfect car for 'round town or the proverbial 'country roads.' And with the added power of the B engine (which is visually identical to the original MGA 1500 engine it has replaced), a very lively sports car.
